Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Laayow gets to ride around in a cloak or robe pocket all the time and just stick their lil' head out, they're just that small!! Even in their premature hatchling stage, they're very, very smart and developed their telepathy prematurely. They almost never leave the confines of a pocket in fear of getting crushed or lost, and because of that, they aren't very close to any dragon, but more so to the scroll keeper they constantly stay with. Lovingly loyal to their scroll keeper, they help with remembering things and with little things, and they are fantastic company overall.
