When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pond is a little gentler compared to his other siblings. The Magistrides are all over the place in personality, with some more outwardly hostile than others. But, Pond is probably the most respectable. He has a gentle, dignified air to him, very similar to his father, Loch. He tends to avoid his Water Dragon brothers, all except for Rain, the second oldest and shyest of them. Though much younger than him, Pond feels an obligation to protect and keep company Rain and make him feel wanted in the family. The two of them form a pair in the family, with Rio and Pacific, Delphine and Aberforth, and Papaya and Mango forming the others. Pond will often take his brother out fishing with him in the ocean, enjoying the open water and each others' presence. Though he tends to avoid them, Pond is still sympathetic toward the rest of his family and will try to aid them if ever they truly need him. He just believes his brother, Rain is the most in need of him, so he sticks close to and defends him.
