Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shattered Shards is the spell caster for the herd of Dragon Horses that resides on the Plains of the Timeless. Compared with the magic of Magi dragons, her power is weak, but she is strong among her kind. Specializing in spells of torture and pain, she uses them incapacitate foes and prey. Although her powers are not of a pleasant kind, she uses them only on the proper occasions and under the right circumstances. She has a good and fair head on her shoulders, and is neither cruel nor relishes causing pain to others. Outside of being able to cast spells of a painful nature, she can also heal wounds using her powers. Mortal wounds are beyond her abilities, but she can manage gashes and broken bones. When ill, the other Dragon Horses come to consult her for advice and healing for their injuries and illnesses. Shattered Shards uses many strange remedies in her treatments because of the superstitious culture of her kind.
