Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nitrai was named by the White Dragon, Theolite. His name comes from the unusual kindness shown to other living beings. Theolite's late friend was like this, and he too was a dark dragon. Nitrai is rather disliked by those of his own kind, but most humans and dragons find him as helpful and friendly. The Dark Dragons find him disgraceful, and are constantly shunning him from anything they are involved in. The only fierce rage he shows is when hunting, where he takes joy. Most people find this as his only bad trait. All Dark Dragons have a deep hatred for this disgrace. Nitrai is, in summary, loved by most, but hated by some.
