Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dreaming Is Living is very kind. As a Daydream dragon, it is his job to make humans smile as they go about their busy lives. But Dreaming does more than that: He allows humans to re-live their best moments and their wildest, wonderful dreams. He once saw a little girl walking by under him who was very sad. He had noticed her walking by every day after school with her father's hand in hers. Each of those times, she had been adamant about getting a kitten. Her father had said no, they couldn't afford it and had nowhere to keep it safely. So one day, as she was walking by, Dreaming gave her a daydream. It was such a sweet, pleasant dream, that he couldn't help smiling to himself. The beautiful day, the soft, little kitten, her parents' approval: all was perfect. Dreaming loves his job, and that story with the little girl has happened over and over again with countless other people who just need something to smile at and who just happened to be walking by Dreaming.
