Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

By luck, Rhea ventured upon a person who, in a gesture of generosity, was looking to give a rare dragon egg to one without such a dragon. Swearing an oath to never harm the dragon and to cherish it always, Rhea was then granted the egg. With tender care she raised it, and in time the egg hatched, revealing a glittering golden hatchling. Thus the hatchling came to be named Glittering Golden Gift.

Glittering enjoys a life of indolence, pampered and primped, knowing that she doesn't need to do anything—the oath protects her. Good-natured and lazy, she lolls around, sleeping for the majority of the time. When she does awaken, it is only to eat or to move to a more comfortable spot.
