Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shieldlady of Nahor, originally called merely Shieldlady, was the third dragon to join Clan Olympus. As her nature dictates, she is very protective of her clan and has a very soft spot for all dragons that are smaller or weaker—and in the greatest need for protection. This soft spot even extends to the ever-mischievous pygmy dragons, and since Shieldlady once saved one of them from being crushed by an enraged Red, she is usually surrounded by a swarm of fluttering and chittering pygmies. Miraculously, she hasn't been made a fool of any pygmy since that incident.

As her clan grew, so did its need for protectors, and as a consequence, Shieldlady started to gather like-minded individuals around her to forge her clan's protective force. Over time, this force developed into a clan within the clan, and by now, she is the leader of the sub-clan Nahor whose sole purpose is to protect all of Clan Olympus.
