Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Knowledge is a shy little hatchling; he tends to be afraid of most of the games others play. Mock fighting, he says, disregards the true horrors of battle, and he calls racing reckless and dangerous. He is somewhat ostracized by the other hatchlings, but Knowledge doesn't care. He spends most of his time wandering through the forest, or conversing with the adult dragons, who are some-what bemused by him.
