Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to perch on the high branches of the taller trees and look longingly up at the sky.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Chamaeleo showed up one day in a wetland belonging to a Water Walker named Juerii and, much to the dismay of the older dragon, seemed to convince itself thoroughly that Juerii was his parent and began following him around. At first Chamaeleo was simply an annoyance...then Juerii discovered that the hatchling's small size, wings and natural agility in the foliage were quite useful for playing tricks on (and robbing) travelers. With this revelation, and that Chamaeleo enjoyed this pastime just as much as Juerii, the two became partners in crime.

When not busy following or helping Juerii Chamaeleo can usually be found chasing bugs and other small things in the more heavily wooded parts of the wetland or practicing the aerial acrobatics that Juerii doesn't seem to understand the need for.
