Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Currently the strongest dragon on Kragna's island, Eclipse's raw power and his friendship with the king make him one of the most respected dragons there. Although he has sparred with, and won against Jet several times, he refuses to take up the title of king because he claims to enjoy doing work and battle for himself instead of sending others to do so for him. The real reason for this is because he just doesn't want to have all of his time taken away by political matters. He would rather spend time caring for his mate and brood, but he doesn't have the heart to let his best friend shoulder the entire island's burdens without him.
