Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Kroax was taken from his home when he was just a hatchling. He was separated from his parents, his many siblings, and the other ochredrakes by a group of dorsal dragons intending on taming the 'savages'. The dorsals were trying to prove their superiority to the other dragons by culturing the little ochredrake. Kroax's original name given to him by his parents was 'He-Who-Croaks-With-Frogs'. The dorsals, who wanted to modernize his name but still keep some of the original, named him 'Kroax', pronounced 'croaks'. Kroax always feels out of place with the dorsals, and has tried many times to sneak back to his family. One time when he was able to escape he was given the cold shoulder; his family and friends were taken aback by the odd mannerisms taught to him by the dorsals and felt like he was no longer 'one of them'. Chased out by his family and friends, he had no where to go but back to the dorsals. Kroax hopes one day to start over and escape to a coven that will accept him.
