Avatars of Destruction possess a volatile disposition. They thrive on chaos and decay, and their horns and plated scales are as hard as forged metal. Because of their affinity with darkness and the destructive forces of nature, it was once thought that these dragons were omens of ill fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Although being thought to be aggressive and volatile, Durrel actually has the wish of world peace. He loves his mate, Oniklaasbok, they live on a secret island.

Durrel was famous for his combating skills. However, he was captured by human army in a war between dragons and men, and was imprisoned for years. Because of the hatred towards dragons and envying of Durrel's power, the head of the army decided to execute Durrel after years of torturing him. Just before the day of execution, Durrel's friends miraculously rescued him. The torture in the prison weakened Durrel much, but slowly he managed to recover. He now can live peacefully with his mate on their island again, although their bodies are now with scars on them and peace cannot last forever, it no longer matters.
