Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Maiden of Secrets is something of an enigma herself, spending most of her time sequestered with the Loom of Fate. Jupiter was never particularly sociable, and as the eldest of the Five Maidens, she has a lot to think about. It's rumored that she knows the given span of everything the Celestial Bureaucracy touches, from which the other Celestial dragons infer that she knows, too, when her own time is coming, and can see Saturn's shadow outside the very entrance to her own lair. Maybe that is why she spends so much time making sure all her work is done.

Sober and driven by duty, Jupiter spends little time in her own section of caves, the Forbidding Manse of Ivy. Still, no matter where she goes, the ivy that trails from her is sure to take root eventually. Her Chosen of Secrets and her counselor, wise Nara-O, are as close-mouthed as she about exactly what it is that she does.
