Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The vast and dense forest on the island of the Dragonreaper is a dangerous place filled with the most vile beasts. However, the inhabitants of the island need not fear the forest of beasts if they have Tzotle as their guide. The non-dragon inhabitants, most of whom live in and beyond the forest, have contact to the Dragonreaper and his clan through Tzotle, and all treaties not to attack each other are forged through him.

Tzotle's name comes from the humanoid tribe that resides in the darker, more dangerous region of the forest, out of respect for them. This gesture alone has been enough to keep the fierce and introverted people from attacking the Dragonreaper and his dragons.

Due to his friendly nature, Tzotle easily makes friends with many of the more social and sentient races of the forest. At home, he is usually most social with Vircho. It is also Tzotle's unpronounced goal in life to get Raezel out of his hole and into games with the other dragons, although Raezel does all he can t
