This hatchling could hardly be considered cute.

And look! It has grown wings! At least it isn’t quite as naked-looking anymore.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The oldest of the recent brood, Bleshka is a vile little Black Marrow with a wicked sense of humor. She's Boneniva's pride and joy and has her mother wrapped around her claw, enough that to Boneniva, Bleshka can do no wrong. Bleshka isn't the prankster of the Halloween tribe, but she doesn't need to be; others take care of that. Bleshka's name originally was meant to be Damu which means blood to the Desert dragons, but Boneniva wasn't impressed and so she turn to the language of the Halloween tribe and decided that Bleshka, their word for blood, was more fitting. Bleshka loves to eat but she is never in a hurry with her food, she prefers freshly killed prey to play with for her own amusement and never does Boneniva scold her for playing with her food. Bleshka has even leaned how to play with prey that she catches by herself, sometimes not killing at once to hear its pitiful sounds before she finally ends it.
