Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems rather lazy.

And look! It’s gotten much larger and grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rigaru Kodomo is kind of a conceited dragon. This probably comes from his breed; being a 'Royal' Crimson Dragon does seem to give a bit more of a title before the younglings have even hatched. However, it was also his upbringing as a hatchling that causes himself to think that he is better than those around him. His mother and father taught him to be what he is. What he doesn't know is that his actual parents abandoned him and the two dragons that he thinks of as mother and father are merely his adopted family.

His name means 'Regal Child'.
