Sandwaste Dragons are sparsely distributed across very hot, sandy, dry deserts. They grow to large sizes, but very slowly, and they are well adapted to the harshness of the desert, being capable of surviving for long periods with very little water and food. They are constantly on the hunt for prey large enough to sate them, catching it mostly by ambush or, rarely, running it down. However, Sandwaste dragons are opportunistic and will not shun carrion, insects, and even plants when desperate. They are solitary and nomadic and build no lasting bonds with one another, though there is little animosity among Sandwaste dragons when they encounter each other.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wasteland, like his name, is vacant and silent. It is unknown whether he is a true mute or if he simply chooses not to speak. He acts almost like a Drake, listening to anything and everything told to him. He is known to declare loyalty to a single being and follow them as the world's most terrifying bodyguard. It cannot be said why he does such things or what criteria must be met for him to choose a partner. He doesn't seem to necessarily care for his partner, he expresses no affection for them whatsoever. He simply follows their orders like he were a machine. He does seem intelligent, at least in a battle setting. He has a great mind for on-the-fly strategy and is great at cornering his prey. His strength is also nothing to scoff at, he is one buff dude! Ultimately, Wasteland is a mystery. Little is known about why he acts the way he acts and no amount of asking will reveal a thing. He is a strange, scary beast without emotions or mercy, following the orders of whom he chooses.
