Lunar Heralds are deeply attuned to the two moons of Valkemare, Aurax and Cirion. Strictly nocturnal, they draw energy from moonlight and will only hunt when the moons have waned. When breeding, the amount of moonlight the parents receive from each moon will determine the color of the egg produced. When a Lunar Herald is struck by direct moonlight, an illusion of multiple wings may appear. Witnessing a Lunar Herald’s illusory wings is commonly believed to be a sign of good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mari Staeri is deeply attuned to the cosmic energy from the moon being a Lunar Herald. She becomes stronger, faster, more durable, when she come into contact with the moonlight. Though Mari can only absorb energy from certain phases of the moon and is dependent on the lunar cycle, being weak at a new moon, being the strongest at full moon. For example Mari becomes a highly talented healer when she uses her magic during the right moon cycle. Though she can't use her healing powers when the wrong moon cycle is occurring. Due to this Mari studies all sorts of healing capabilities that don't need magic, making her very resourceful and independent. Mari is one of the healers of the volcano tower in her clan. The tower is a sanctuary for all her clan members that live in the volcanic clan territory. Mari is there to heal and take care of the clan members when they are sick or wounded in the tower. Mari is protective, graceful and innovative. She can be dramatic, however.
