And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
As demanding and vain as her mother, Cherryblossom spends most of her day in front of a mirror, preening and sharpening her talons and making sure her scales are spotless. Besotted as she is with herself, she believes that no one else is worth her time, and never memorizes names, merely disdainfully addresses her 'subordinates' as ugly person. Only one species has escaped her contempt, and those are the pixies. She delights in their mischievous, scheming ways, and can be frequently found cackling with them behind the rose bushes, planning an attack on some poor, unsuspecting passerby.
