And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Many dragons, adults and hatchlings alike, will stop what they're doing and pay full attention as Jensen walks by, afraid of being reprimanded by the loud and stringent Pink. His head is carried high, his wings erect, and his stare makes even the toughest dragons shiver a bit in their scales. Though small and lean he is undeniably strong, but his biggest asset is his commanding and often overwhelming personality. He is the undisputed leader of the main clan hatchlings, and most of them do what he says out of fear even though he's never actually hurt a soul. Many of the adults claim he will make a great officer or commander some day, if only he can learn to lead without relying on intimidation.
