Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fleeting Fairytale was the first Dragon Horse in the cave. From a young age, he loved the idea of having more of his kind around. In his teenage years, he started stealing other dragon horse eggs and bringing them to the cave. Soon the population of Dragon Horses was ballooning to an extreme level through breeding and eggs he was bringing in, but the cave was not the Dragon Horses' natural habitat. His kind was unhappy in the airless, dark cave, and so uprooting all of his kind from the cave, they flew off. For days they searched for a new home. Almost giving up, they stumbled across a vast endless plain. The Dragon Horses settled in and were soon at home. Fleeting Fairytale took a mate, Desperate Dragoonage, and settled down to rule his band of Dragon Horses. The Dragon Horses still keep in contact with the original cave, but have formed their own unique society independent of their old home.
