Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Winter-Blue Daydreamer, more commonly known as Winterdream, is the daughter of Snow and Skydream. Like her father, she expresses a deeper interest in the human and dragon subconscious than most of her species, but she also has her mother's level head and rational thoughts.

Though one might imagine Winterdream being lonely, as she is the only frozen hatchling in her cave, she is actually more at home in the chamber of the Science Team, where she hopes to one day work. When she has gained more experience in the world, she will add to her father's studies with notes and findings on the thoughts and mind of children and hatchlings.

The circumstances of Winterdream's freezing are rather unusual. While practicing flying through narrow spaces one day with her father, she caught her wing on a rock as she passed it, pulling the wing back and breaking a bone.
