Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vykrunn is the second of the territory Fcuadj, under Swyftera's leadership. As a sort of deputy, he is particularly in charge of his land's relationships with the rest of the Clan. Vykrunn is the sort of dragon who does not speak much, but the words he does say are meaningful and wise. Like Swyftera, he is somewhat reserved and can come across as cold and distant. He is, however, learned and courageous, and he prefers diplomacy above violence. More than once has he stopped Swyftera from lashing out physically, and he has a calming effect over her that many lack. In some ways, the two leaders could be misconstrued as in love with each other. No one, not even Vykrunn, really knows for sure.
