Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Like the egg it hatched from, it is a very shiny gold.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gioiellino ("Little Jewel") arrived in the cave when was only an egg. His egg was a little smaller then normal gold eggs, and often become soft.

He needed help, because the shell had become so hard that he couldn't break it with his little nose horn. After hatching, Gioiellino was so tiny that nobody dared hope he would survive. But the gentle Philia cared for the little gold.

Gioiellino was fed, warmed and cared for, but never outgrew his size as an hatchling, remaining an eternal baby in the body and maintaining a sweet, innocent, joyful character.
