Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A fiery young Nebula, Hearthia can often be seen dashing across the sky like a flying coal, a stream of flames trailing in her wake. She is a powerful flier, having practiced as soon as her wings grew in and taking inspiration from the tales of the Skywing Oiniades, who refuses to leave the air.

Hearthia is one of the best fliers in the cave, so she is often appointed as a teacher of sorts to the hatchlings, helping them learn how to properly fly. The young wyvern is also a skilled navigator, having memorized most of the constellations and wind currents near the cave. She documents these atmospheric phenomena on wind and night sky charts and has entrusted the safety and care of her works in the library.
