Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Silently, he rests next to his Lady Sire Carmilla, content to sleep the day and night away unless roused by the touch of her nose, which usually means one of two things: her affection, which he gently returns by raising his cheek to hers for a moment, or it means an egg has been presented to him. He has a special favoritism towards the eggs whose aura is green with a shell black as night, but it must smell right to him. The inbred ones have a scent to them, one that he alone seems able to detect, partly because he too was one of these. He does not wish the little ones death, rather, he wishes to bring to it what he feels is a gift of immortality, free from the abuse of irresponsible breeders all, and a life lived as a warrior of night, like him, peaceful till threatened, and a terror to ill favors all, given purpose, companionship, and love. The owner understands this of him, and so seeks such eggs in their hunt, watchfully and mindfully.
