Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Foersvinn Du Som Lyser is a very nurturing creature, and the dragon equivalent of a "single dad". Although the mothers of his hatchlings live in the same cave, he is the one to look after the little ones, as they are Albinos like him and he feels that he knows best what an Albino hatchling needs. And indeed he always makes sure they get the right food for the production of their special oily secretion, and keeps them out of the sun. Every morning at sunrise he stands at the cave entrance and shrieks at the sun; it almost looks as if he tries to chase the sun away but of course it is only a warning cry, telling his hatchlings to come back inside.
