Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This poor hatchling was hatched, raised and frozen for the sole purpose of zombification; to Meerkat, his owner, he serves no further purpose. She has already tried multiple times to lop his head off on Halloween night, knowing that the chances of zombification by revival were greatly amplified on that day. After he'd seen two of his frozen friends die in vain, however, he was motivated even further to stay alive. Shaking with nerves, he somehow dodged ten swipes of the sword in succession, after which Meerkat decided to spare him. He hopes he's safe for now, but fears she'll try again the coming Halloween.

He doesn't understand Why Can't I Be A Zombie's obsession with becoming a member of that foul breed, and has tried to drag the paper hatchling to Alaafia's cave for psychotherapy. Somehow, despite his clearly superior strength, he can never manage to do so.
