Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It gives off a glow that lights up the cave.

Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Peninah was named after the Hebrew word for writer or storyteller.  True to her title, she can often be found regaling the hatchlings (and sometimes even eggs) with tales that she heard from the adults, stories she made up, and a few myths that had been told to her by her mother.  To her, the only thing better than giving a young dragon the gift of imagination is creating one herself and presenting it to them.  She dreams of one day being allowed to grow up and maybe even write a scroll containing all of the ideas rattling around in her brain.
