When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Qumado is the third dragon that Yumi Sennyo raised. She is quite a popular one among the young male dragons. She doesn't believe herself to be the most beautiful of the clan, but she believes she is one of them. Some of the younger females of the clan are jealous of all the attention she gets and often call her vain, when she is not so. Qumado shrugs off these comments and does all her duties in the clan.

Qumados duties are watching and keeping eggs and hatchlings warm and finding fresh water for the clan. She doesn't really enjoy watching the energetic hatchlings, but doesn't mind it. She very much enjoys swimming as she searches for fresh, clean water for the clan.
