Soulstone Dragons are deeply empathic creatures. The pearls which they carry with them from a very young age are deeply attuned to the emotions of those around them, glowing in accordance with the strength and sincerity of the bonds individuals share with one another. Soulstone dragons have the ability to show that, even in the heat of a vicious feud, the love that friends, family, and partners share for one another remains true and strong.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Markrid Ainsworth is a kindly Soulstone who spends most of her time watching over the youngling dragons of the keep and lounging in castle ruins, often doing both at the same time. She regards it as her place to teach the hatchlings about the importance of the bonds of friendship and family, and stops their feuding and rough housing when they grow dangerous. She also loves to fish and often has angler competitions with the other dragons of her keep.
