When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Geralt was chased from his homeland waters long ago by local fishermen who deemed him a sea-monster and began to hunt him down. Geralt travelled the oceans and lakes for many decades until he heard the haunting songs from Lacrimosa, a female water dragon near the bays of Italy's eastern shores. Intruiged he has joined her in the warm waters and begun to sing back to her haunting melodies. Often the two dragons will set up a haunting mournful song that can be heard for miles below the water as well as above the water. While the other KT dragons have no idea what these two sing to one another, the serenades by the two water dragons move many of them deep in their hearts.
