Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hollysparkle's egg came into his owner's cave as a very generous gift from another dragon raiser. As such, his love of giving presents surpasses even those of the other Christmas dragons in his cave. While he enjoys giving gifts to everyone, he pays particular attention to dragons who don't have many friends or family members, or whose hoards of treasure may be a bit lacking. Even at other times of the year besides the winter holidays, a sad or lonely dragon may be surprised to find a small trinket or two has mysteriously appeared near their lair, with no indication of who sent it save for a sprig of holly attached to the gift.
