Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s already quite large compared to other hatchlings, and appears to like roughhousing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Brutal, merciless, malicious, killers: the words rushed through Majesty's mind, words that were associated with her kind, words that didn't seem to relate to her. She had never felt happy with her own kind, never satisfied with their actions, the actions they were known for, anyway. She left very early on in her life, an outcast, unwanted by the Brute Dragons she called family. Her journey had taken her far through the land, to where she now resides, the StarFire Lake. The place was quiet, yet filled with the sounds of sleeping dragons and the chirrup of those few creatures that lived under the stars. She stayed with them, a band of travellers who crossed the lake annually to observe the tri exclipses on their glory. The leader was a bright, handsome drake named SunlightBreeze. He put Majesty at ease and invited her in to the clan, to the place that she would stay forever.
