Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As a hatchling, Ionid fell in love with a beautiful winter dragon named Dialora. Once he found out that she would forever remain young, he abandoned his adulthood to stay with her forever. Unfortunately, she has a crush on a frozen guardian hatchling named Chaizin, which makes Ionid rather hostile toward him. Generally speaking though, Ionid is a soft-spoken and caring young dragon, with a love for hot drinks and frosty nights.
