Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A long time ago, Aonranach lived in a beautiful spacious cave up in the Highlands. Food was provided for by her stunning Silver mate Samhainn; all she had to worry about was fussing over her gorgeous offspring. How happy she was! It was not, however, what fate had in store for her. One by one, her children left for far-away places, never to be heard from again. Then Samhainn left wintery Aonranach for a warm-hearted Guardian. At long last she thought she had found love again in the icy Hyperborean Frost and a home among a large family of Winters and Ices, but her heart was deceived once more: soon another Winter with a prestigious lineage, equal to his, had taken her place.

Aonranach has since retreated deeper and deeper in her beautiful, spacious cave, venturing less and less outside, her health slowly deteriorating and the last of her beauty fading into the darkness.
