Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Writer of Iodine Trek is a dragon that one could say has... problems. She will often lock herself in her room for various periods of time, always claiming she's "studying." During these times dragons have reported to hear maniacal laughter and small explosions, followed by a brief beeping noise. Writer also frequently says that her only purpose in life is to write a novel she calls "Iodine Trek", which as far as the other dragons can figure out is an overflowing violet binder, which must be over a thousand pages by now. Stealing pencils and gnawing at leather are some of her (other) favorite pastimes. When she doesn't understand something, she will keep tilting her head sideways at increasing angles until she short-circuits and rolls on her back.
