Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its scales give off a beautiful golden gleam.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Time Spiritwing was ironically nicknamed 'Time" after she was frozen. Stuck as a hatchling forever, she's scared of the other dragons in her pack, especially the Gold dragons, who complain often that they are the only true gold dragons, not Gold Tinsels or Gold-Horned Tangars, Gold Shimmerscales and especially not Golden Wyverns. They call Time 'little morsel' and their arrogance drives the other Golden Wyverns crazy. Her mother, the Chrono Xenowyrm who froze her, says that she can always have a place among the Xenowyrms, but little Time Spiritwing stays with her father, who can protect her better than her snakelike mother. Her mother loves Time but Time doesn't love her back because she cannot figure out why she has to live the rest of her life, which is seemingly forever, as a weak hatchling. It breaks her mother's heart to explain to her that whenever a hatchling is minutes away from death the Chrono Xenowyrms have to freeze them. Time came down with a soft-shell sickness...
