Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Meru, a Wingly Skywing, as she is from the group of Skywings that live amidst Winglies, is a very spirited, excitable dragon with much energy and enthusiasm. Often, her young mind and wildness gets her into much trouble with older beings. Her two best friends are a strange fairy obsessed with orange and a gray storm dragon named Dante. Daa-kun and Meru were separated for a long time, but often, Meru stayed with Daidaiiro, the orange fairy. One day, Daidaiiro had taken essence from a dying magi dragon and used it to create another dragon, a special reincarnation she called Daidaiiro Hana. Meru, knowing Dante had a human he stayed with, and guided Dai and the orange bundle to Eef's mountain cave, both Meru and Daidaiiro Hana being accepted.
