Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Celene was the first, and for a while, only female Vampire Dragon in the cave. Not much is known about where she came from; just that Alucard returned one night with her egg to be a playmate for Cain. She took a liking to him right out of the egg and they became fast friends and eventually lovers. She was distraught however, to find out that Vampire Dragons could not produce offspring as other dragons could. She and Cain 'adopted' a pair of young vampire dragons; one they found abandoned and one she herself bit in a rage towards the other dragons who taunted her. Cain is the only dragon capable of soothing her rage and keeping her from turning more eggs and killing hatchlings.

Unlike Cain, who is oddly even tempered for a Vampire Dragon, she is fierce and cruel towards other non-vampire dragons, save for the Marrows, who she gets along with as like her, they cannot have young of their own.
