Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ihup is a gargoyle near the southeast corner of Crier Mansion, which doubles as a cap on Hell's Gate Crier.  With her fellow gargoyles, Ihup guards the Hell's Gate and the mansion itself at night.  Ihup's post on the east side means that her night starts earlier and ends earlier than many other Crier gargoyles, and she sometimes has to scramble to get back there before the sun rises and she is frozen in place.  She is always very careful to return to the same pose she was originally carved in, though other gargoyles have been known to change their poses to more comical ones from time to time.

Ihup has the distinction of being one of the most thoughtful and responsible gargoyles in Crier, and she was the first to reveal herself to Baroness Widow Crier when she inherited the Mansion.
