Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bakhtak's name means "nightmare" and she lives up to it. Of all the dragons in the clan, she enjoys fighting and killing most of all. She is responsible for patrolling the skies and forest around the cave at night, watching out for enemies. She has no qualms about killing anything that seems even remotely dangerous, often attacking and ripping apart the mountain cats or wolves that stray into the clan's territory. She does not often share her kills with the rest of the clan, usually consuming them in the forest where she brought them down. During the day, she sleeps deep in the cave. The hatchlings all avoid her for fear that she may wake up in a bad mood and eat them too.
