Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wrap is quite antisocial, always refusing to play games with the other hatchlings in the caves. She prefers pulling weeds to any other activity, and is the only vine dragon allowed in Zephiea's garden as a result. In fact, the adult purple is the only dragon that Wrap really feels close to, since her father lives away from the clan and her mother never pays much attention to her offspring, and the two can often be found working busily, silent in their mutual friendship.
