Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Spencer is one of fifteen dragons handpicked by the Anu clan leader, Athia, to help quell the rebellion during the clan war. He is the youngest member of the clan council, and is constantly viewed with disdain by the older members. They see him as little older than a hatchling, his opinions at first not being taken seriously. However, Athia chose him for his incredible mind. Spencer is brilliant, a genius in fact. He has the ability to remember anything he has ever heard. It is an important skill considering that Spencer spent time spying in Eden's camp, and he can recall everything that happened with extreme clarity. His memory of the land and the forests is also invaluable at planning battles. Because of his intelligence, he can also be a bit awkward and shy. Still, he has grown a lot since first joining the council. Growing in physical strength and courage, he is now getting some respect from his elders. He has joined the team leading the charge to bring Eden down.
