Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shield Maiden is usually seen pacing back and forth around the eggs and hatchlings, glowering at anyone suspicious who gets too close. She isn't very trusting of anyone she doesn't know, but will protect her friends faithfully. The 'shield' at the end of her tail's edges and the metallic tips of her wings have been sharpened, just in case she needs to use them for a reason other than defending. It is very rare that she will fight back, however, mostly just blocking blows and maybe trying to scare the attacker off, but will resort to fighting back if necessary. And woe betide those that have her revert to that, as the only thing that would keep her from slicing her attacker to bits would be her hatchling onlookers!

She is rather caring, maybe a little overprotective, and can be sarcastic at times, but wants nothing more than everyone to be safe. She would never forgive herself if an egg or hatchling was killed under her care, and looks up to I Walk on Flames for her skill at fighting.
