Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its belly is bright red and it is most active in the evening.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Xedal 'Stubborn' Chiyo truly takes after his name. Even when his egg was fully open, he refused to come out. He snapped at anyone who dared approach him. He was finally  coaxed out by Irrsinn with a freshly killed rabbit. Soon after, his wings grew and then he refused to grow up. The clan leader had no choice but to cast the freezing spell upon Xedal who now lives happily with the other frozen hatchlings of clan Chiyo.
