Frostbite Dragons first appear at the beginning of winter, creeping in with the frosts. They have found their place in human lore as the spirits of snow, since they only reveal themselves during icy weather. In the depths of winter, they cover the world in blankets of snow and are believed to be responsible for the glittering frost that creeps over everything. Although they appear cold and distant, they are actually rather mischievous and enjoy spending time dancing through blizzards.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Inlana comes from a respected family that still worships the old gods. In a world where most dragons have given up worshipping altogether and are far too educated to waste time with anything except either the increase of knowledge or their own pleasure, her family still remembers duty and honour. So Inlana was brought up to respect those old values, fulfil her role within the clan with dignity, and to not forget the regular blood sacrifices to the old and cruel gods ruling over the frozen mountaintops.
