Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dragons are creatures of magic and myth, so some must be born of unnatural means.

Marin is one of those dragons.

He was born from a wish. A wish by a girl to fly far away and sing her song to many people. On the wish-makers deathbed, this wish was granted in an unusual way. The girls spirit was gifted to a dying Skywing hatchling, still in its egg. The hatchling survived and matured at a amazing rate, as if desperate to take to the skies. Sometimes, he gets so carried away soaring, that he has to be reminded to eat and rest.

Marin is a daydreamer and rather naive, believing in things like true love and kindness. He sees the good in everyone. A talented singer both verbally and telepathically, Marin is beloved by all the weyr.
