Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hamara was abandoned as a hatchling by her parents. She was sick when she was born, so they figured she would die. Living through the sickness, she grew up having to fend for herself. Extremely violent and filled with rage as a young dragon, she was eventually found and brought into a clan by an old, dark green dragon, who called herself Hevin. She slowly adjusted, letting the rage and pain drift out of her heart. Now a content dragon, she's extremely pleasant to be around, but threaten those who took her in, and she reverts back into who she used to be.

Hevin realized, from the young dragon's thought pattern and accent when mind-speaking to others, that she was Finnish. Therefore, Hevin consulted her master, and her master called the young dragon Hamara, Finnish for 'Twilight.'
