Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Angst has a dark and terrible past, a past horrid enough to rival Gary and Stu's. He refuses to tell others about it, though, and instead spends his time sitting in corners and muttering moodily about everything that's ever gone wrong in his life. The other dragons in the clan have gathered so far that his main qualm lies in the fact that his parents abandoned him at birth, which they can't quite understand, since most of them have had similar histories- but Angst still seems sure that his is the worst of them all.
